Any woman, regardless of her income, can have risk factors that may compromise her pregnancy and the health of her unborn child. Healthy Start can help to identify these risk factors and health concerns early. At your first prenatal visit, ask your pregnancy care provider to screen you for Healthy Start. It’s free! The screen is brief and includes questions about your medical history, your social environment and your lifestyle. Your responses to these questions can assist in identifying potential risk factors.
Following the delivery of your newborn, you will want to request a Healthy Start screening. This screening can determine if your infant is in need of any Healthy Start services.
Even if you do not wish to access any Healthy Start services, by completing the screening you are helping ALL mothers and their babies in your community. By saying “YES” to a Healthy Start screening, you are helping to support the funding of services offered by Healthy Start. |
