Every baby deserves a healthy start.

The goal of Healthy Start is to reduce infant mortality, reduce the number of low birthweight babies, and improve health and developmental outcomes.

Success Story:

As an expectant mother concerned for the health of my baby, I reluctantly informed my prenatal care provider that I had been a drug user for many years. I was strongly encouraged to become drug free that day and was given the Healthy Start program as a resource.

I was visited by a Care Coordinator who referred me to a drug counseling program at a local church. It was through this drug counseling program that I was given the support and encouragement I needed to become drug free.

The additional support I received from my Care Coordinator helped me stay focused and determined on becoming the best mother I could. I was able to receive parenting and breastfeeding education from my Healthy Start Care Coordinator.

I am happy to say that I gave birth to a beautiful baby, found a job and was able to keep all of my doctor appointments. If it hadn't of been for the Healthy Start program, I know I wouldn't be where I am today. Thank you Healthy Start!
