Presentation to review Alachua County’s pressing health issues
WellFlorida News Release
Alachua County’s most pressing health issues, as identified in a recent community health needs assessment by WellFlorida Council, will be the focus of a presentation on Wednesday, June 15, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Senior Recreation Center at 5701 NW 34th Blvd. in Gainesville. Alachua County residents and community leaders are invited to attend.
Some of the county’s most pressing health issues identified in Alachua County Community Health Needs Assessment 2016 include: a high rate of alcohol and substance abuse; poor eating habits and physical inactivity fueling chronic illnesses and diseases; increased rates of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections; and shortages of mental healthcare and providers.
The report, to be released at the end of June, includes current health data and survey results from the community.
Attendees will learn more about the health needs assessment, the community-driven strategic planning process used to create it (Mobilizing for Action through Planning and Partnerships) and how to obtain a copy of the report.
The project is funded by the Florida Department of Health in Alachua County and UF Health Shands Hospital.
