A giant inflatable walk-through colon is the star of recent local health fairs, hospital exhibits and other events throughout North Central Florida. Three leading Florida academic cancer centers – Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Miami Health System, Moffitt Cancer Center and the University of Florida Health Cancer Center – have joined to fund thousands of dollars for four projects statewide to help people detect and treat cancer early.

WellFlorida Council, the state designated local health council for 16 counties in North Central Florida, welcomes new board member Jennifer Martinez, Executive Director of Marion Senior Services. Florida Healthy Start administers the Nurse-Family Partnership (NFP) in 12 Florida counties as a result of a funding increase.

This year, The Florida Legislature approved funding to support the Nurse-Family Partnership (NFP) program in nine additional counties. This increase expands the funding from three to twelve counties.
