North Central Florida Cancer Control Collaborative’s upcoming meeting will provide an overview on HPV and why it matters. The special guest presenter for the meeting is Martina Murphy, MD, Associate Professor, UF Department of Medicine and Program Director, UF Hematology/Oncology Fellowship.

Marion County residents, community-based organizations, social service providers and healthcare professionals are invited to take a 10-minute survey to help identify the county’s most pressing health concerns. The Community Health Needs Assessment Survey is being conducted by the region’s health planning council WellFlorida Council, in partnership with Florida Department of Health in Marion County and AdventHealth.

Two surveys will be available — one for the general community (https://tinyurl.com/MarionHealthSurvey) and one for providers of health-related services (https://tinyurl.com/MarionProviderSurvey). Surveys will be open until June 10, 2022.

The North Central Florida Trauma Agency has secured Daniel Sundahl to create a special presentation for first responders and those that work in trauma services in North Central Florida.  This event will be held from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 7.  Mr. Sundahl, who is known throughout the United States and Canada, has put together a special presentation entitled Post Traumatic Growth: The Silver Lining around the Dark Side of Trauma.

Alachua County’s syringe exchange program currently waits for funding to begin implementation at local organizations like GRACE Marketplace, UF’s Mobile Outreach Clinic and Meridian Behavioral Health Services.

The Alachua County Board of County Commissioners discussed the program at Tuesday’s commission meeting.

The county finalized its partnership with WellFlorida in November 2021 for the service, just over two years after Florida Legislature passed a bill allowing syringe exchange programs.
