The Hippodrome in Downtown Gainesville will sponsor open enrollment in Marketplace health plans on November 16th from 1 to 6 p.m.

The Hippodrome, WellFlorida Council, Suwannee River AHEC, GetCoveredAmerica, and The America Epilepsy Foundation of Florida, are cosponsoring the healthcare event.

Open enrollment is being held at the theater to emphasize the importance of Gainesville artists getting insured. The event hopes to get every local artist covered.

Navigators are professionals certified to provide free and unbiased information on the options available through the Health Insurance Marketplace created by the Patient Protections and Affordable Care Act. These services are available to individual consumers, as well as small businesses and their employees, in the program’s 15-county service area.

WellFlorida Council will be tabling at the upcoming Pride events in Ocala and Gainesville to share information about Everyone’s Doing It—a High impact Prevention project. The overarching goal of this project is to decrease the spread of HIV and link HIV-infected individuals to prevention and care services in Alachua, Columbia, Lake, Marion and Putnam Counties. The Veteran Initiated Electronic Care Coordination (VIECC) project at the North Florida/South Georgia VA Health Care System aims to improve care coordination of Veterans receiving healthcare from civilian providers. This project is part of a larger multi-site national pilot project that trains Veterans to use the VA’s Personal Health Record portal, My HealtheVet, to create a Continuity of Care Document (CCD) that can be shared with their civilian providers. WellFlorida’s 15-county Ryan White region, Area 3/13, has the highest percentage of any region in Florida of persons living with HIV/AIDS who have suppressed (or undetectable) viral loads. An undetectable viral load means the amount of HIV virus in a person’s blood is so low that current laboratory tests are unable to detect it.
