On March 19 and March 26, the NC Radon Program is offering two free webinars that focus on reducing the risk of radon gas exposure in Florida homes, workplaces and other buildings. The webinars are being promoted by WellFlorida’s North Central Florida Cancer Control Collaborative and is relevant to the 2020-2025 Florida Cancer Plan, Goal 9.

Council’s High Impact Prevention (HIP) project will be tabling again this year
at the Ocala Pride event on Oct. 19 from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Tuscawilla
Park. HIP will also be tabling at the Gainesville Pride event on Oct. 26 from 1
p.m. to 9 p.m. at Bo Diddley Plaza.

Local businesses are invited to participate in Business Responds to AIDS, a partnership between WellFlorida Council and businesses interested in ending HIV/AIDS. Businesses participating in the program provide prevention messages and materials to customers, employees and neighborhoods, and can also serve as a free HIV testing site.

The Certificate of Need (CON) program has been eliminated for general hospitals as of July 1. CON, which has been in effect in Florida since the 1970’s, is a regulatory process that requires certain healthcare providers to obtain state approval before offering certain new or expanded services.
